RED ALERT: Hackers Are Sharing A Link That Has Crashed Over 96,000 iPhones Just Today

People are assholes. And because people are assholes, we thought we should probably inform you that there’s a website link going around that will crash your iPhone.

So, if you see a link for DON’T click it!

For reference, here’s what happens when you actually click the link…

When you visit the website, it’ll load for a moment and then crash Safari if you’re running on an iPhone 6S or iPhone 5S running iOS version 9.2.1 or a regular iPhone 6 running iOS 9.2.

Depending on your settings, the browser might crash and you might lose some tabs, or you’ll have to restart your device entirely. It’s not thought to do any damage, but it’s still probably best to avoid it if you can.

9to5 Mac explains that the site is running JavaScript that will create a loop with the History API and crash your device. So it’s annoying, but shouldn’t compromise your personal information.

And a lot of people seem to be falling for it. As of earlier this afternoon, a single link had crashed over 93,000 phones.

The site will also crash desktop versions of Safari, if you’re using that. So beware.
